July weather in Iowa is starting off different than June

DES MOINES, Iowa — Very little severe weather broke out in Iowa this month. June is usually one of the busiest months of the year for strong to severe storms.

The Des Moines airport measured 4.41″ of rain, with most of this happening last week. This is slightly below average for June. The warmest day happened on June 21 with a high of 97 degrees. The coldest day took place on June 9 with a high of 70 degrees.

There is a chance for a stray storm after 4 PM and before 8 PM on this cooler Monday. Only a few communities will see this rain on the last day of June.

Tuesday is looking beautiful with sunny skies and highs in the 80s. The humidity will be lower and the winds will be light out of the northwest.

Wednesday looks warmer with highs close to 90.

Thursday is going to be mainly dry and warmer with highs in the lower 90s.

There is a chance for storms in western Iowa Friday night.

The best chance for rain right now over the holiday weekend is on Saturday morning.
