FAYETTE COUNTY, Iowa — A bicyclist was killed during a collision with a vehicle in Fayette County, north of West Union.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the collision occurred Sunday just before 10:15 a.m. on Juniper Road near the intersection of Kitty Road.

Authorities say a van was traveling southbound on Jumper Road when it struck a bicyclist who was also traveling southbound on Juniper Road, just south of Kitty Road.

The bicyclist, a 76-year-old from West Union, was pronounced dead on the scene. Their name has not been released.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the crash. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted on the scene by Fayette County and the West Union Police and Fire Departments.
