DES MOINES, Iowa — A body was discovered in the Des Moines River near downtown on Friday night.
At around 8 p.m. the Des Moines Police Department and Des Moines Fire Department responded to a 911 call reporting a possible body in the river near the Court Avenue bridge. The DMPD said that officers staged on the East Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway bridge confirmed that a body was floating down the river.
The DMFD Water Emergency Team (WET) was deployed and were able to recover the body. According to the DMPD, the Polk County Medical Examiners Office was called to the scene.
No additional information has been released.
