One injured in shooting on Des Moines’ eastside

DES MOINES, Iowa — One person was injured in a shooting on the eastside of Des Moines Thursday night.

At roughly 8:30 p.m. the Des Moines Police Department and Des Moines Fire Department responded to a report of a shooting with a possible victim near the area of E 23rd Street and State Avenue.

According to Sgt. Paul Parizek with the DMPD, when responding officers arrived they found an adult male who had been shot. Police said the victim was conscious and alert when medics transported him to a nearby hospital.

Parizek said to expect an increased presence of police in the area as the investigation continues.
