LYNNVILLE, Iowa — The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office says a water supply disruption in Lynnville on Wednesday happened because someone tampered with equipment controlling the availability of water to the town.
The JCSO said the City of Lynnville contacted them around 1:30 p.m., reporting the city’s water supply had been tampered with. The preliminary information from the city said the condition of the water wasn’t affected, and it was still safe for consumption.
The JCSO said that during the water shortage on Wednesday, bottled water was provided by Safeguard Iowa and Hy-Vee and handed out by Jasper County Emergency Management and the sheriff’s office. The nearby fire departments in Kellogg, Sully, and Searsboro were placed on emergency standby to respond to any structural fire calls in Lynnville
An investigation into the water tampering incident is ongoing. If you have information about the case, contact the JCSO at 641-792-5912.
