TAMA COUNTY, Iowa — Two people were rescued in Tama County after a boat overturned on the Iowa River over the weekend.
The Tama County Sheriff’s Office said it happened at 1:29 p.m. on Sunday near Chelsea. The two people who were rescued from the river suffered minor injuries in the incident.
Nearby citizens jumped in to help the sheriff’s office and other responding agencies: Tama Police Department, Chelsea Fire, Belle Plaine Fire, and Belle Plaine Ambulance.
The Tama County Sheriff’s Office said, “We’re thankful for the quick response by everyone involved. This could have ended much worse, and we’re glad both individuals are okay.”
