AMES, Iowa — The Story County Sheriff’s Office pulled a vehicle from the West Peterson Park Lake, north of Ames, on Sunday.
According to the Story County Sheriff’s Office, a recreational boater reported reading a submerged object they believed to be a vehicle in the West Peterson Park Lake on Saturday.
After assisting at the Ames Triathlon at Ada Hayden on Sunday, the SCSO Dive Team and UAS team reported to the park to investigate.
Working with Story County Conservation, the SCSO Dive Team confirmed the boater’s findings. At approximately 2 p.m., the vehicle was recovered from the lake with the help of Central Iowa Towing and Recovery.
The vehicle was later identified as a truck that had been reported stolen out of Nevada 20 years ago.
