GREENE COUNTY, Iowa — A Greene County woman died after she was pinned under a lawnmower in a creek on Thursday afternoon.
At around 3:30 p.m. multiple rescue crews responded to a report of a lawnmower accident in the 2100 block of W Avenue just south of Rippey. According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, when first responders arrived at the scene, they found a woman pinned under a riding lawnmower in a small creek that was roughly three feet deep. The sheriff’s office said it’s believed the creek bank gave way and the mower rolled, pining the woman under water. She died at the scene.
On Friday, the sheriff’s office identified the victim as 51-year-old Heather Lansman of Rippey.
Grand Junction Fire and Rescue and Greene County Ambulance assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene.
