Storms bring sultry and dangerous weekend weather

IOWA — Stormy weather is coming to an end across Central Iowa this morning. Skies will clear, the sun will shine, and the added humidity will make it feel like a sauna in Central Iowa starting today through the weekend.

The storms developed Friday morning along a front draped across Iowa. That front will lift north today across North Dakota and Northern Minnesota for the weekend. That will push the risk of storms to our northern neighbors, and a ridge of heat will build in across the Central Plains and Iowa.

An Excessive Heat Warning and Heat Advisory begin at noon on Friday and will continue through Sunday evening. The hottest and most uncomfortable conditions will be felt in western Iowa, as temperatures will go higher nearing 100°.

We could break records this weekend when it comes to low temperatures the next two days. Overnight lows are forecast to stay above the record maximum low temperatures set on June 21st and 22nd of 2013.
