DES MOINES, Iowa — One person was injured in a garage fire at a property near the Iowa State Fairgrounds Wednesday morning.
Captain Stacia Swanson of the Des Moines Fire Department said the call came in at 10:03 a.m. about a detached garage on fire at 2929 Logan Avenue. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they saw light smoke coming from the structure. Fire crews were able to get the flames under control pretty quickly.
Capt. Swanson said an adult male who was trying to put out the fire did suffer injuries and has been transported to a Des Moines hospital for treatment.
A fire investigator is headed to the hospital to speak with the man about what may have started the fire.
