WEBSTER COUNTY, Iowa — A Fort Dodge teen who was reported missing as a runaway on Monday has been found dead in a body of water east of Fort Dodge.
The Fort Dodge Police Department requested the public’s help to locate 16-year-old Oliver Brockbank on Monday. They said his family reported him missing Monday, after he was last seen at his residence Sunday night.
Tuesday morning, FDPD provided a news release that Brockbank was found deceased Monday in a body of water southeast of 200th Street and Quail Avenue on the edge of Fort Dodge. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Story County Dive Team assisted in recovering his remains.
Police said they’ve found no indication of foul play linked to Brockbank’s death.
“Oliver was last seen at his residence on the evening of June 15th. Since receiving the initial report, the Fort Dodge Police Department has worked diligently with multiple law enforcement agencies and first responders in hopes of bringing him home safely. Sadly, this was not the outcome we hoped for. Our hearts go out to Oliver’s family, friends and all of those affected by this tragic loss. We ask that the community keep them in their thoughts and respect their privacy as they grieve.”

The Fort Dodge Fire Department, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol, Webster County Emergency Management, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the Story County Dive Team, and the Story County Drone Team all assisted in the search.
