DES MOINES, Iowa — A child was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning on Des Moines’ east side.
It happened around 6:45 a.m. at E. 36th Street and E. University Avenue. A post on X from DMPD said callers reported that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.
Sgt. Paul Parizek, spokesperson for the Des Moines Police Department, told WHO 13 the pedestrian was a child and they suffered serious injuries.
The road is closed, causing temporary traffic delays in the area due to the incident.
