WARREN COUNTY, Iowa — A passenger was killed after exiting a vehicle that was traveling roughly 70 mph on Interstate-35 in Warren County over the weekend.
At around 11:10 Sunday morning a Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling northbound on I-35 in Warren County. According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, at roughly the 43.5-mile marker near New Virginia, the back passenger of the Jeep opened the door and exited the vehicle, which was traveling at around 70 mph. The passenger, identified as 55-year-old Poonam Salsbury of Holy Lake Ranch, Texas, died at the scene.
The Iowa State Patrol has not released any information about why Salsbury exited the moving vehicle. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
