1 critically injured in Madison County jobsite accident

MADISON COUNTY, Iowa — An adult male was airlifted to a hospital after being critically injured on a jobsite in Madison County.

On Monday morning at around 10:54 a.m. a 911 caller reported to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office that an adult male had been injured on a job site in the 2700 block of Peru Road, southeast of Peru. Sheriff’s deputies and Madison County Ambulance paramedics responded to the jobsite and found the victim, identified as a 37-year-old, with critical injuries. The sheriff’s office said that the victim was injured while operating machinery typically used in the installation of fiber optics.

The victim was transported to a Des Moines hospital via air ambulance. As of Tuesday, the victim’s condition remains unknown.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim’s life was likely saved by his co-workers, who immediately applied first aid and continued to do so until paramedics arrived.

No additional information has been released.
