Morning vehicle fire in Des Moines was ‘targeted incident,’ police say

DES MOINES, Iowa — A vehicle fire on the southeast side of Des Moines turned into an arson investigation on Tuesday.

At around 7 a.m. the Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle fire. Police say the fire was a targeted incident. No injuries occurred.

Des Moines Police shut down both lanes of traffic from the 1200 to 1400 block of Hartford Avenue while detectives and the Crime Scene Investigation team processed the scene.

The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
