Forecast: Hazy skies expected in Iowa as smoke from Canadian wildfires moves in

DES MOINES, Iowa — We squeezed a few more degrees out of the thermometer today, with again a few spotty showers around. These will diminish with the night, and we’ll move into a different weather pattern.

On what will be the last day of school for some, you most likely won’t need to send a jacket or hoodie along. As if they’d wear them anyway.

What you will notice as Friday progresses is a haziness in the sky, as wildfire smoke from Canada settles into the upper Midwest. This looks to be with us through the weekend. It doesn’t appear that this smoke will affect us with particulate matter at the surface.

Our next best chance of rain after a few days of increasing warmth comes Tuesday into Wednesday morning. We’ll watch Tuesday for the possibility of severe weather.

Highs for the next six days are above, and your WHO 13 7-day forecasts below. Have a great evening!
