WAUKEE, Iowa — 2 dogs were killed in a house fire in Waukee on Friday afternoon.

According to the Waukee Fire Department, at approximately 1:38 p.m., firefighters from Waukee, Urbandale, and West Des Moines Fire Departments were dispatched to a fire on northwest Pike Circle. Crews arrived on the scene and were quickly able to distinguish the fire.

WFD says the occupant of the home returned to find it filled with smoke and called 911. No other occupants were home, and not injuries have been reported. Two dogs were killed in the fire.

The Waukee Fire Department says the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The estimated cost of damages is not yet determined.
