DES MOINES, Iowa — Multiple celebrations are planned at Camp Dodge in Johnston on Thursday, ahead of Memorial Day.
The Iowa National Guard is hosting a statewide Command Retreat where leaders will come together to celebrate the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army before its June 14th anniversary.
Following the retreat, the public is invited to a free open house at the Iowa Gold Star Military Museum to celebrate its 40th anniversary. From 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Education Center will offer guided tours where you can see historic uniforms and meet with museum staff.
All attendees should enter Camp Dodge through the main gate at 7105 NW 70th Avenue. Anyone 16 and older must have an ID.
