Names of victims in deadly Des Moines house fire released

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department has released the names of the victims in a deadly house fire that occurred early Wednesday morning.

At around 3 a.m. the DMPD and Des Moines Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire in the 6700 block of Three Lakes Parkway. When first responders arrived, they found the home fully engulfed in flames.

According to the DMFD, there were eight people living in the home at the time of the fire, and while many were able to escape, three people died at the scene.

On Wednesday afternoon, the DMPD released the names of three people who died — 72-year-old Ndayirorere Yuliana, 18-year-old Shannnella Nshimillimana, and 3-year-old Angela Peniel.

According to police, the investigation into the fire is ongoing, but evidence collected so far does not indicate that the fire was set intentionally. Additional information will be released when made available.
