BOONE, Iowa — During a time when many manufacturing plants are announcing layoffs and even closures in Iowa, Daisy Brand is breaking ground on a new facility.
On Tuesday, leaders with Daisy Brand, the Ames Regional Economic Alliance, and Boone County Economic Growth Corporation held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new 750,000 square foot facility in Boone. Due to rain and muddy conditions, the ceremony was held indoors instead of outside.
According to the Ames Regional Economic Alliance, the $627 million facility is expected to create roughly 106 jobs once opened, and roughly 255 jobs as demand increases.
Boone Mayor Elijah Stines said the Daisy Brand facility will benefit generations to come.
“It’s hard to overstate how impactful it will be for our tiny little town,” Stines said. “Like we said earlier, this is a generational investment and a generational change for our city, and it will help us propel into the future.”
The facility will produce cottage cheese and sour cream and is expected to be up and running by early 2029.
