WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — A juvenile was injured during an assault at Walnut Creek Campus in West Des Moines early Tuesday afternoon.
Just before 12 p.m. officers with the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of an assault with a weapon at Walnut Creek Campus. According to police, a juvenile suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was able to be treated and released at the school.
Officers at the scene recovered a weapon and took a 16-year-old student into custody in connection to the assault. West Des Moines PD said the student has been charged with willful injury causing bodily injury, going armed with intent, and possession of a controlled substance.
Police said it’s believed the assault was an isolated incident.
