DES MOINES, Iowa — Flash flooding from heavy rain Monday night into Tuesday has forced some metro trails to close in spots.
The City of Des Moines says three segments of its trail system are closed:
- Bill Riley Trail — from the Walnut Creek Connector to Water Works Park
- Walnut Creek Trail — the portion that runs underneath the Grand Avenue Bridge near 63rd Street
- Gay Lea Wilson Trail — from Sargent Park to Williams Street
When water levels fall, the city will clean the trails and reopen them. You can keep track of the status of the trails here.
The City of Clive has also announced that the Clive Greenbelt Trail is closed at 86th Street and 114th Street because of high water on Walnut Creek.
