DES MOINES, Iowa — We’ve kicked off another great May weekend with dry conditions and warmer temps than the ones we saw on Friday. Your weather timeline takes you into a similar Mother’s Day:

We stick with this pattern through Wednesday (though eastern Iowa may see an isolated Tuesday storm). Note as the week progresses, we’ll see dewpoints rise, giving us more humid conditions Tuesday through Thursday and setting us up for our one decent rain chance this week.

The following three graphics probably overhype Thursday’s storm chance, but in any event, it’s possible we could see a stronger thunderstorm or two that day, especially in eastern Iowa.

The 50 European model ensemble members stack up to show us the likelihood of Thursday rainfall, but also show us that better rain chance will kick off the following week. The slideshow following walks you through Tuesday’s rain chance east and Thursday’s rains.

Both the Weather Prediction Center’s 7-day and the European model’s outlook for the week aren’t bullish on rainfall amounts. Highs for the next six days follow those:
