DES MOINES, Iowa — One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash on the city’s southside Thursday afternoon.
At around 2:31 p.m. the Des Moines Police Department and Des Moines Fire Department responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 6500 block of Bloomfield Road. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found a vehicle had left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole.
The DMPD said the driver of the vehicle was the sole occupant and died at the scene.
As of 3:40 p.m. Bloomfield Road east of SE 14th Street was still closed as first responders worked to investigate and clear the scene.
No additional information has been released.
