IOWA CITY, Iowa — Over a year after leaving, Caitlin Clark returned to Carver-Hawkeye Arena, where fans were overjoyed to see her hit the court again.
The game was hugely anticipated and tickets sold out fast, and at high prices. Tickets on the secondary market ranged from $190 to $2,000, making it the most expensive game Clark has ever played. Even at a high price, fans traveled across state lines to see Clark in action.
“I think most of the tickets were going around $400 to $500 bucks to get a seat,” said Cara Phillips. “You can buy jerseys, you can buy basketballs, but the experiences of being at the game and just watching it is priceless.”
Indiana Fever fans say Clark has helped bring the spotlight onto the team and its other fantastic players.
“It’s electric, like anybody who walks in now, people know who DeWanna Bonner is, or Sydney Colson, or Sophie Cunningham. They like are cheering for these people that, five years ago, I don’t know if that would’ve happened. So it’s an awesome thing to see, good energy,” said Indiana Fever fan Fanaye Kifletsadik.
Clark certainly pleased fans, shooting a 3-pointer in the first shot and scoring 13 points in 12 playing minutes. The Indiana Fever swept the court, winning 108 to 44.
