DES MOINES, Iowa — It was a chilly start to Sunday with light fog in spots. But we’ve warmed up quickly with sunshine and dry air in place. If you don’t think we have a beautiful week ahead, I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Highs for the next six days are above and, for most of us, those days will be dry. Monday and Tuesday will be sunny days, then clouds increase on Wednesday. It’s possible we could see a raindrop here or there in central Iowa on Wednesday and Thursday, but most of us will miss out, and amounts will be light.

The Weather Prediction Center’s 7-day rainfall estimate shows how slim our rain chances are for the next week in Iowa. The European model has introduced a Saturday evening rain possibility, but only in the last model run. We’ll keep an eye on it.

The extended forecasts below keep us mostly warm and dry, though a change may be coming for the end of the two-week period.

A look at the European model’s 50 ensemble members below shows that fuel for storms looks to increase in Iowa after the 15th.

And the GFS model’s outlook for rotating storm possibilities also gets more interesting for us during that timeframe. We’ll keep you updated!
