DES MOINES, Iowa — Most of the state missed out on rainfall as storms moved mainly across the northern part of Iowa last evening as I discussed during the news Sunday evening. We do have more chances to see rain the next few days.

It has been a cooler Tuesday as north winds replaced the hotter and muggier airmass over Iowa. Your weather timeline walks you into our rain chances.

Lows tonight will be cool as clouds increase during the early morning hours. Rain chances ramp up after 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Better chances for more moderate rainfall start during the late afternoon and continue into the evening. We may also see a line of thunderstorms move across the state Thursday during the early morning hours.

Most of Thursday looks dry. By evening, rain chances increase again and continue intermittently during the daytime hours on Friday. As I type this, though, the Friday evening looks dry.

Rainfall amounts will be between about 0.4″ and 1.1″ across the WHO 13 viewing area by late afternoon Friday.

Highs for the next 6 days, your WHO 13 7-day forecasts, and extended forecasts follow. It appears we’ll get warm this weekend and stay there! Have a great night.
