Iowa Bird Rehabilitation center said, in 2024, it took in 3,187 sick or injured birds — a roughly 65% increase compared to years prior. At times, roughly 700 birds were at the facility, overwhelming caretakers.
Last year was ‘too much to handle’ for a Des Moines bird rescue. They’re expecting similar numbers in 2025.
