DES MOINES, Iowa — A Nevada, Iowa, man is charged with stalking his ex-fiancée and threatening a mass shooting at Iowa State University’s graduation ceremony.

Tanner Bandy, 28, is facing multiple charges of first-degree harassment and stalking – possession of dangerous weapon. Police say he is not an Iowa State student.

Court documents filed in the case claim Bandy had been stalking and threatening his ex-fiancée since last October. Earlier this month, Bandy allegedly left a voicemail for the victim in which he threatened to kill the victim and other people with an AR-15 during Iowa State’s graduation ceremony.

Bandy is being held in the Story County Jail on a $200,000 bond.

Iowa State officials sent out a statement to students following Bandy’s arrest. It said, “While ISU Police do not believe there is an ongoing concern, they are working with their law enforcement partners to provide increased security measures on campus as well as during university commencement ceremonies in May.”

The investigation is ongoing by the Iowa State University Police Department.
