Indianola police lieutenant charged with stalking, placed on leave

DES MOINES, Iowa — An Indianola police officer is accused of stalking a woman for nearly four months.

Justin Keller, 43, is charged with stalking, an aggravated misdemeanor. Keller is a Patrol Lieutenant for the Indianola Police Department.

Online court documents state that because of the conflict of interest, the Carlisle Police Department was tasked to investigate the case. The criminal complaint said the victim told police Keller continued to contact and visit her despite the couple’s relationship ending in December. Neighbors also told officials they spotted him driving by and walking in the area on multiple occasions.

Keller is accused of letting himself into the woman’s home earlier this week.

The judge in the case issued a no-contact order and set a preliminary hearing for April 29th.

According to KNIA Radio, Keller is on unpaid leave from the Indianola Police Department.
