DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines Parks and Recreation is bringing the park to the people with its new mobile recreation vehicle, called Park-N-Play.
Des Moines launched this initiative a few weeks ago and so far, it has been well-received by the community.
The Parks and Recreation team brings the Park-N-Play vehicle to different locations across the city. Its goal is to have a park within a 10-minute walk of everybody, and this vehicle helps them achieve that.
Amarre Negussie is a Parks and Recreation Supervisor. He said they bring the mobile recreation vehicle to locations that don’t have parks or are normally overlooked when their department hosts events.
The truck is full of different activities for everyone to play with, including sports equipment, crafts, games, and more.
“Throughout the first couple weeks of the program, we’ve seen great participation and people are just really having a lot of fun. And it’s family fun,” said Negussie.
