More thunderstorms expected in Iowa Monday, later this week

DES MOINES, Iowa– Scattered thunderstorms will start popping in parts of northern Iowa after 4 PM on this Monday. The surface winds remain strong out of the northwest. The winds will continue to increase as the storms pass through. The strongest ingredients for severe storms exists in northern Iowa before 7 PM.

The storms will weaken as they move across the state tonight. The greatest threat is in northern Iowa before 8 PM. This storm system will not be dropping a lot of rain or be widespread. Only a few areas will benefit from the isolated rain showers. The Metro will see the best chance around 6-7 PM.

There is a better chance for stronger storms in southern Iowa by Thursday.
