DES MOINES, Iowa — A portion of I-80 in the eastern part of the Des Moines metro will close overnight Wednesday and Thursday for the removal of a bridge.

The Iowa Department of Transportation said the removal of the East 38th Street bridge over I-80 will cause eastbound I-80 to close near the bridge starting at 10:00 p.m. Wednesday and last until 5:00 a.m. Thursday. The westbound lanes of I-80 near the bridge will close Thursday at 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. on Friday.

The closures are dependent on weather conditions favorable for crews to do the work. If needed, a closure could also happen Sunday, April 13 at 10:00 p.m. and last until 5:00 a.m. Monday.
