ALTOONA, Iowa — A child was rescued from a pond in Altoona on Tuesday.
At around 3:19 p.m. the Altoona Police Department was called to a pond just behind the Hy-Vee at 108 8th Street SW for a report of a missing child, police said. After roughly 45 minutes to an hour the missing call was called off.
Altoona police said the child was eventually discovered and a water rescue began. The child was transported to a hospital. The child’s condition is unknown at this time.
