Pella woman allegedly stabbed husband in neck, attempted murder charge filed

PELLA, Iowa — A Pella woman has been arrested and charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing her husband multiple times with a kitchen knife.

The Pella Police Department said officers and an ambulance responded to the 1200 block of Main Street just before 10:00 p.m. Sunday after receiving a 911 call about a man who had a knife wound to the neck. The victim, identified in court documents as Henry Allen, told police his wife had attacked him with a knife.

Henry Allen was found in the basement of the home, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Criminal complaints filed in the case say 56-year-old Marci Allen, Henry’s wife, took a large kitchen knife and carried it downstairs, then stabbed him in the neck during an argument.

Henry Allen had to be transported by air ambulance to a Des Moines hospital because of the injuries to his neck and jugular. Pella Police said he is in critical condition.

Court documents said Marci Allen told officers she had stabbed Henry and demonstrated how. The complaint said she told them “he (Henry) would not answer questions about the text.”

Investigators found what appeared to be blood on Marci and her clothing, a downstairs sofa, and a large kitchen knife.

Marci Allen is charged with attempted murder and domestic abuse assault — use of a dangerous weapon. She is being held on a bond of $50,000.

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for April 10.
