INDIANOLA, Iowa — Two dogs were rescued from a house fire in Indianola Friday morning.
At around 11:22 a.m. the Indianola Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire in the 200 block of South P Street. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found heavy fire and smoke coming from the home.
According to the fire department, with the help of the Norwalk Fire Department the fire was quickly contained. Two dogs were rescued from the home and transported to a local veterinary clinic to be evaluated and treated. No other occupants were inside the home.
The fire department said that due to the extent of the fire, the home is considered a total loss.
An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the fire.
