Des Moines police identify driver sought in deadly hit-and-run

DES MOINES, Iowa — Police say tips from the public helped them identify a driver connected to a deadly February hit-and-run crash.

On Monday, the Des Moines Police Department released photos of an individual being sought in connection to the case, asking for the public’s help to identify them. Tuesday, Sgt. Paul Parizek, spokesperson for the DMPD, said the driver had been identified.

The investigation into the February 22nd crash that resulted in the death of 46-year-old Eric Andrews. Police said it appeared Andrews had been hit by at least two vehicles in the 900 block of Hull Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Neither of the vehicles stopped.

Despite emergency crews providing medical care, Andrews was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police are not releasing the name of the driver and say no criminal charges have been filed. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
