WAUKEE, Iowa — Firefighters are on the scene of a fire at the Kinship Brewing property in Waukee Tuesday morning.
Fire crews responded to 255 NW Sunrise Drive after someone reported seeing a fire at Kinship’s building at 5:55 a.m., a dispatcher with Westcom Emergency Communications confirmed to WHO 13. Firefighters from multiple agencies, including Waukee, West Des Moines, and Urbandale, are working the scene.
Smoke was visible coming from the building, and firefighters were working from the roof. They remained on the scene as of 7:05 a.m.
We’ve reached out to the Waukee Fire Department for more information on the fire.
The brewery opened in 2021 but has had a troubled financial history. The bank foreclosed on the property in October of 2023, and in December of that year the taproom closed with an announcement that it planned to re-open. It’s unclear if that ever happened.
In March 2024, the Business Record reported the property was for sale or lease.
