DES MOINES, Iowa — MidAmerican Energy Company is reporting over 11,000 people are without power as severe storms blow through central Iowa Friday evening.
Multiple severe thunderstorm warnings were issued, with some storms reaching winds over 60 mph. Much of central Iowa was in a Level 4 out of 5 risk for severe weather.
As of 6:40 p.m. MidAmerican reported 9,878 people in the Des Moines area were without power and 1,425 people were without power in the Fort Dodge area.
According to MidAmerican’s website, crews will begin restoring power to those affected once the storms clear and it’s safe to do so. You can stay up-to-date on outages by clicking here.
