DES MOINES, Iowa — Recent warm weather has many eagerly awaiting Spring and festival season and Des Moines is ready.
The Des Moines Arts Festival released a list of 195 artists from 31 different states who will be at this year’s annual event. Artists were selected through a rigorous jury process. Jurors previewed more than 5,700 images in a variety of mediums submitted by 953 applicants across 43 states. Thirteen artists are returning this year after winning awards back in 2024.
“Our jury process honors the quality and distinctiveness of the artists’ work, which is why the Des Moines Arts Festival is regarded as one of the best in the country. Each jury brings a unique perspective, and that variation is reflected in each festival,” said Stephen King, the Executive Director of the Des Moines Arts Festival.
In addition to the professional visual artists, the jury compiled a list of artists to exhibit as part of the emerging Iowa artist and emerging artist programs. To view this year’s artists and images of their work, go to desmoinesartsfestival.org.
This year’s festival will take place Friday, June 27th through Sunday, June 29th in downtown Des Moines’ Western Gateway Park.
