Saturday morning forecast: warmer!

We begin the day with decent snowpack over western and northern Iowa. Don’t become emotionally attached to it, as you’ll see in the forecast below.

Temperatures are in the 20s as we start the day today, and will bottom out in the same range Sunday. In either case, watch for refreezing and frost!

Sunday will be nice, with highs in the 50’s and 60’s across Iowa. On Monday, we’ll warm even more. But we’ll pay for it with windy conditions, as seen below:

Overall, it will be a mild week. High temperature forecasts follow:

Friday will see a fairly powerful area of low pressure move into the Plains. Snow and severe weather will be likely in the central part of the U.S.

Thunderstorm chances will ramp up Friday into Saturday. We’ll have to watch for the possibility of severe weather.

It also looks as if we’ll see another very windy day in our neck of the woods on Friday, on par with what we saw Wednesday possibly.

Precipitation chances increase Saturday, and it appears we will receive some moisture to start next weekend.

It also appears that we may not be done with snowfall just yet, with a slight chance for snow in Iowa on the 16th, and perhaps a better chance on the 19th.

We do look to stay a little warmer than average overall through St. Patty’s day. Your extended and 7-day forecasts follow. Have a good one!
