DES MOINES, Iowa — A couple of inches of new snow fell in parts of northern Iowa this Friday morning. The heaviest snow fell in Story County while more light rain fell across the rest of the state.

Temperatures will be climbing close to 40 this afternoon with a nice north wind. There will be some slippery spots overnight with lows dropping below the freezing point. Refreeze will be the biggest issue on some of the untreated areas. It is going to get warmer over the weekend with highs close to 50. It will be a muddy mess by next week. The warmest day in the forecast is on Monday.

It is time to spring forward on Saturday night before you go to bed. Make sure you move your clocks ahead one hour before Sunday morning because of the start of daylight saving time.
