WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — After weeks of anticipation, and just in time for the holidays, Toys”R”Us held a grand opening in Jordan Creek Mall on Saturday.
The Go! Retail Group, which owns Toys”R”Us, announced seven new locations were coming to several states across the country in September. At the time of the announcement, the brand had less than half a dozen storefronts open.
WHO 13 News confirmed with Jordan Creek Mall leaders mid-October that the Iowa location would be located in the mall. Mall staff confirmed the store would be located in the former Forever 21 location, found on the upper level across from the food court.

On Saturday, the store held a grand opening where hundreds lined up for a ribbon cutting ceremony and giveaways, alongside mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe.
“This is a great moment for all Toys”R”Us kids, and the generations to come as we bring more play and joy to your communities,” said Steven Weber with Go! Retail Group.
A press release stated the store will feature “the season’s most popular toys and brands, including LEGO, Barbie, Hot Wheels, NERF, Paw Patrol, and more!” The store will also debut an arcade experience featuring claw machines and gashapon machines.
