DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO announced Saturday that it is endorsing State Auditor Rob Sand for Governor and labor lawyer Nate Willems for Attorney General.
Charlie Wishman, President of the Iowa Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, said that Rob Sand will stand up for union workers.
“That’s what Rob’s campaign is all about. Rob’s campaign is about, yeah, working together. It’s about getting past all of the partizanship. There’s look, there’s always going to be parties. But that doesn’t mean we can’t work together. It’s about being part of something bigger than you are. So it’s real easy, and we are so proud to endorse Rob Sand,” Wishman said.
Wishman said that typically the Iowa Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO does not endorse candidates as early as it has with Rob Sand.
“It’s really not very often that the station operation does early endorsements, but these two, in our view, they are no brainers without without question,” Wishman said.
Sand spoke at the event coitizing the current republican leadership in Iowa.
“We are looking at the state government in the state of Iowa right now that is not focused on serving regular people. It’s not. We know is it’s not focused on serving workers. It’s a focus on solving the working class. What they want to do is they want to look out for special interest groups and insiders,” Sand said.
