IOWA — There is a bone-chilling cold this morning with temperatures in the 30s and wind chills in the 20s.

We are starting the day with shivering sunshine, but creepy clouds will roll in.

A wicked wind will also pick up this afternoon with gusts of 25 to 30 mph out of the northwest.

During Trick or Treat hours, skies will be mainly cloudy and temperatures cold in the 40s and wind chills in the 30s.

At 6 PM, expect temperatures in the upper 40s and wind chills near 40 degrees. Skies will be mostly cloudy. It will get colder through the evening with wind chills in the mid-30s by 8 PM.

This year is the first SCHEDULED Trick or Treat night on Halloween in 87 years for the Des Moines Metro. While our community has not typically trick-or-treated on Halloween night, here is a look at some recent Halloween History. The weather stays frightful on Saturday with mostly cloudy and some spotty showers. Temperatures will begin November cooler than normal in the 40s. The weather turns delightful on Sunday with boo-tiful sunshine returning, as well as a return to highs in the mid-50s.

Spook-tacular 60s and sunshine are on tap for the work week ahead! It will be a nice start to November.
