GREENE COUNTY, Iowa — Three people were injured after two vehicles overturned during a collision in Greene County Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. at Apple Avenue and N58 near 320th Street, east of Coon Rapids. Authorities say a Jeep SUV crossed the center line for an unknown reason and hit a Chrysler minivan head-on.
The SUV, driven by 34-year-old Robert Everett lll, continued on the road and came to rest overturned. Everett lll was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. According to authorities, Everett lll had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The minivan, driven by 41-year-old Curtis Hofbauer Jr., traveled into the east ditch and came to rest overturned. Hofbauer Jr. was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. The ISP says Hofbauer Jr. had been wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Curtis Hofbauer, 76, sustained injuries during the crash and was taken by MercyOne to a Des Moines hospital. According to authorities, Hofbauer had not been wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The Iowa State Patrol says the crash is still under investigation.
