WAUKEE, Iowa — Hundreds of kids and their families snagged some candy at the 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat at Premiere Dance Project in Waukee.
Kelsi Anderson, the founder and event organizer of Trunk or Treat at Premiere Dance Project, said that the event is a great way to spotlight local businesses.
“We decided last year to start holding our own Trick or Treat event. It was something important to us to try and incorporate small businesses as youth and family organizations and just community pieces that were important to our families. So most of the businesses you see here are local, and we just try to provide that not only for businesses in the community but for our families as well,” Anderson said.
Anderson said that Trunk or Treat helps show everything unique the community has to offer.
“I didn’t realize until I started doing this, you know, how many people were doing these awesome things in the community, whether it’s like restaurants, parties, and we’ve got some different music companies here. So there’s just a lot of great things that I think our families are fortunate to tap into as well. So just getting to know those people and then providing those outlets for our families is something that’s really fun and exciting.” Anderson said.
Trick-or-Treating and Beggers’ Nights are happening across the metro now, check out WHO 13’s schedule to find your local event.
