POLK COUNTY, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Transportation has announced upcoming closures for the Northeast Mixmaster.

The DOT said that the ramp from eastbound Interstate 235 to westbound Interstate 80 will be closed overnight Wednesday, October 29 and Thursday, October 30 so that crews can pave a connection between the existing lanes to the new lanes of westbound I-80. The closure will begin at 8 p.m. Wednesday and end at 5 a.m. Thursday. The ramp will then close again at 8 p.m. Thursday and will reopen at 5 a.m. Friday.

While the ramp is closed, the DOT said a marked detour will be put in place, pointing motorists to northbound Interstate 35, SE Corporate Woods Drive, southbound I-35, and then to westbound I-80.

Another closure will also take place at the same time for road construction. A portion of westbound I-80 at the Northeast Mixmaster will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Wednesday and will reopen at 4 a.m. Thursday. The road will close again at 10 p.m. Thursday and reopen at 4 a.m. Friday. Motorists will follow the same detour onto northbound I-35, SE Corporate Woods Drive, southbound I-35 and then back onto westbound I-80.
