AMES, Iowa — A Marshalltown man was charged on Friday with first-degree murder in connection to the death of his infant son.
In November 2024, the Ames Police Department said officers responded to a report of an unresponsive child in the 3600 block of Ontario Street. Medics arrived at the scene and began life saving measures on the child and transported him to a nearby hospital, where the child later died.
According to court documents, investigators noticed large bruises on the 11-month-old’s body. The police department said that an autopsy showed the child sustained fatal internal injuries from blunt force trauma.
On Friday, the police department announced the arrest of 24-year-old Tyler Lee Zeuthen in connection to the child’s death. Court records state that Zeuthen was the child’s father.
Zeuthen has been charged with first-degree murder and child endangerment-death.
