Ida Grove in-home daycare provider arrested for child endangerment

IDA GROVE, Iowa — Authorities say an Ida Grove in-home daycare provider has been charged with child endangerment following a September incident.

According to the Ida County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and ICSO deputies arrested 41-year-old Megan Louise Montgomery on Tuesday.

Authorities say Montgomery was arrested on an outstanding warrant charging her with Willful Injury, a Class C Felony, and Child Endangerment Causing Serious Injury, a Class C Felony.

The arrest was a result of an investigation into a September 11, 2025, incident at Montgomery’s home in Ida Grove. According to court records, more than a dozen children were placed in the sole care of Montgomery on the day of the incident. Court records state that before noon, Montgomery “aggressively” picked up an 11-month-old infant by the arm and carried them to another room.

Shortly after this, court records state Montgomery found the 11-month-old unresponsive and called 911 for medical assistance. The infant was later airlifted to a hospital and treated for “debilitating” injuries, court records state.

Montgomery was booked into the Ida County jail and released after posting $10,000 bond.
